Public Sector forum: exploring the imposter phenomenon

The Public Sector forum is for employees working within the public sector, across central and local government, health service, education, police and other public sector agencies. In this session, Julia Philpott, an executive coach, leads us in exploring the imposter phenomenon.

Through theory, exercises and discussion, we will:

  • Define the impostor phenomenon and how to recognise it
  • Discuss what makes it different from common-or-garden self-doubt
  • Explore some techniques for addressing some of the contributing factors, such as attribution patterns
  • Consider how to turn your (or someone else’s) impostor phenomenon into a superpower
  • Take away your own action plan for success

Guest speaker

This session will be facilitated by Julia Philpott, who has been an executive coach for 16 years and particularly enjoys working with female leaders and women aspiring to leadership roles.  Julia regularly runs seminars on overcoming the imposter phenomenon and coaches a range of clients, including senior executives in the automotive, education, food and drink and retail industries.  She recently qualified as a coaching supervisor and happily acknowledges impostor feelings about this!

The organiser

Dee Donnelly, Public Sector forum host, has decades of experience across the public sector and combines her love of personal development with a strong desire to encourage coaching and mentoring skills for all of us! The forum offers us a chance to gather, share, learn, support and be curious together as public sector ‘bolder pushers!’ :)
