Context

As we continue to adapt to the ever-evolving landscape of online education and professional development, it’s crucial that we address the diverse needs of our members. This focus group aims to gather feedback and ideas on how we can enhance our virtual offerings, with a particular focus on using breakout rooms to support different learning styles and neurodiversity, and work with language and cultural barriers.

We’ve had an enquiry and also noticed that some members prefer not to participate in breakout rooms, often leaving during these sessions, which leads to them missing out on shared learning opportunities. Quite often, this is due to other commitments. However, it may also be due to other factors, such as neurodiversity, personality types or other challenges. We are keen to explore alternatives and ensure that all parts of our sessions are inclusive and beneficial for everyone.

Goals

Identify effective strategies – discuss and identify strategies to make breakout rooms more effective for all participants, considering various learning styles and needs.

Promote inclusivity – explore ways to ensure our online workshops and CPD sessions are inclusive and accessible to members with neurodiverse conditions and those facing cultural and language barriers.

Enhance engagement – share best practices for engaging participants in breakout rooms and ensuring meaningful interactions.

Explore alternatives – investigate alternative methods to breakout rooms that can accommodate those who prefer different modes of interaction.

Gather feedback – collect your valuable feedback on our current online training programs and gather suggestions for improvements.

Why your participation matters

Your participation will help us create a more inclusive and effective learning environment that caters to the needs of all members. By sharing your experiences and ideas, you contribute to the continuous improvement of our CPD and training offerings.

Join us on 7 October by registering here.

We look forward to your participation and the opportunity to work together to enhance our online learning experiences.
